IT’S PERSONAL
One in 6 people will be impacted by Red Cross programs during their lifetime.
Your local Red Cross is dedicated to helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and other emergencies in so many ways. Most people don’t realize that the most common disaster we respond to is single-family house fires. In the last year, your chapter has been hard at work!

• The Heart of Oklahoma Chapter serves more than 322,000 people – preparing and responding to emergencies, ensuring a safe blood supply, and providing life saving training.
• From individual family house fires to winter ice storms to the tornado and severe storm seasons, disasters can strike any time. When a disaster strikes, your Red Cross is there to provide shelter, food, health and mental health services to our neighbors in Cleveland, McClain, Garvin and Pontotoc Counties. Last year alone, we helped over 689 individuals in this area meet these basic human needs (242 fire clients, 87 Christmas Eve Blizzard clients, 108 January Ice Storm Clients, 252 May 10th Tornadoes clients), plus 460 firemen and emergency response workers were provided with Canteen Services.
• Last year, your Red Cross provided disaster relief and preparedness services to 4,342 people in our area.
Our chapter has over 300 volunteers,
which make up over 97% of our total workforce.
• The American Red Cross is the only agency military officials rely on to assist with emergency communications between active military and their families here in our community, as well as facilitating emergency financial assistance. Last year, our chapter assisted 1,736 military families through our Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES) Program.
• In the last year, the Heart of Oklahoma Chapter has trained over 40 people a day in lifesaving skills such as first aid, CPR and lifeguarding – exceeding 15,000 individuals.
• Our chapter has also taught an average of 100 children a week about disaster safety, Scrubby Bear, first aid and more – more than 5,000 children.
